Samsung SDI is currently testing at least two 4680 cylindrical cells, one of which matches the original specifications of Tesla's 4680 cells, measuring 46mm in diameter and 80mm in height. Previously, LG New Energy and Panasonic also announced plans to produce this version of the 4680 battery.
The other remains at 46mm in diameter, but may be less than 80mm in height, somewhere between 40mm and 60mm. According to relevant sources, Samsung SDI is also considering supplying such batteries to car companies such as BMW, Volvo and Stlantis.
