Samsung to unveil plans for carbon neutrality

Apple has achieved carbon neutrality across all of its global operations and plans to achieve a net-zero climate impact on every product it sells by 2030. Recently, the latest news from South Korea said that Samsung will announce its own carbon neutrality plan.

Samsung Electronics will reportedly reveal plans this week to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The company may also announce its participation in RE100, a global initiative to convert the energy use of the world's most influential businesses to 100 percent renewable electricity. The company is expected to outline plans for its production lines to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, dubbed "Scope 1 emissions." The meeting will also discuss how to reduce emissions from indirect sources such as electricity and air conditioning, also known as "Scope 2 emissions".

In fact, Samsung has been working tirelessly to achieve carbon neutrality. Its main production sites in China, Europe and the United States already use 100% renewable energy, while Brazil and Mexico are 94% and 71% renewable, respectively.
