Sonnen has expanded the production capacity of its headquarters in Wildpoldsried, Olgau, Germany. At present, it can produce about 120000 sets of systems every year. This accelerated expansion measure reflects the sharp increase in demand for household photovoltaic energy storage systems in Germany.
Sonnen's production expansion was faster than planned, resulting in a doubling of production capacity.
In response to the surge in demand over the past year, the company expanded its production capacity to 120000 sets of household photovoltaic energy storage systems one year ahead of its original plan.
It is expected that Sonnen's installation of household photovoltaic energy storage systems has reached 1 million units this year. The German Solar Association reported that Germany installed approximately 214000 new battery energy storage systems last year.
Sonnen connects its home photovoltaic energy storage system to virtual power plants, enabling them to provide power frequency services in the electricity balance market, and helping battery systems achieve grid stability - which currently mainly relies on traditional power plants or large energy storage facilities. Families with installed household energy storage systems have the opportunity to earn additional income. Recently, Sonnen also included electric vehicles in its virtual power plant.
