South Africa's strong domestic market and ability to attract investment give it an edge over other countries looking to play a leading role in the green hydrogen economy. Anglo American Platinum, which launched the world's first hydrogen-powered truck, said the raw materials for producing low-cost, competitive green hydrogen are wind and solar, ideally in open, dry spaces.
