On November 23, Sunlight, the Greek manufacturer of lead and lithium batteries, announced that it planned to expand its lithium ion battery capacity to 3.2GWh per year by installing four automatic assembly lines in Greek and American plants.
The company said that these equipment and machines were purchased from Manz, a German multinational engineering company, and constituted millions of euros of investment from Sunlight.
Three of them will be installed in the company's industrial park and main manufacturing facilities in Xanthi, Greece, and the other will be installed in the newly built lithium ion battery assembly plant in Maybain, North Carolina, USA.
Xanthi's first production line has been put into use in August 2022, waiting for installation before and after welding, while the other three production lines will be installed in the third quarter of 2023.
