According to data from the Swiss Solar Professional Association, in 2022, Switzerland added over 1GW of photovoltaic installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of over 40%. The new installed capacity exceeded the GW threshold, with a cumulative installed capacity of 4.65GW.
In 2021, Switzerland added 683MW of new installed capacity, with an annual growth rate of 43%. Under this growth rate, Swiss Solar had predicted that the installed capacity in 2022 would increase by 30% year-on-year, approaching 900MW.
Swiss Solar stated that solar energy has contributed 5.8% to Switzerland's electricity supply in 2022. Today, we have approximately 200000 photovoltaic systems, providing approximately 7% of electricity demand. Most companies have ample orders in 2023, and it is expected that the new photovoltaic installation will further increase by more than 20% in 2023.
