TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) has expanded its product lineup with the introduction of a new chip varistor model AVRH10C101KT4R7YA8, which can be used in automotive Ethernet applications with strong anti-static discharge capabilities and will be released in 2022 Mass production began in March of this year.
The new product utilizes high-precision lamination technology, optimizes the manufacturing process and process design, achieves a narrow tolerance of 4.7±0.57㎊ within the capacitance range, and has a strong ability to withstand voltage ESD up to 25㎸. In addition, the product provides the ESD protection device performance required by the OPEN Alliance 100BASE-T1 ESD Device Specification Version 2.0 and is compliant with that standard. As a chip varistor for automotive, this product achieves the industry's smallest 1005 (1.0 x 0.5 x 0.5 ㎜) size, supports a maximum circuit voltage of up to 70 V, and features high temperature from -55 ℃ to +150 ℃ range of working temperature.
Since ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and even more advanced autonomous driving systems require high-speed and low-latency long-distance communication between ECUs, automotive application Ethernet is used as the long-distance communication infrastructure. This product provides ESD protection for automotive equipment without interfering with high-speed communication between ECUs. In addition to supporting the high-speed communications required for future automotive equipment, the new product also provides increased reliability by enabling robust ESD resistance.
In the future, TDK will expand its product lineup by further reducing the size, increasing the operating voltage, and expanding the capacitance range, and will continue to provide flexible support to customers to assist customers in designing diverse automotive equipment.
