SNE Research recently published the report Battery Reuse and Relevant market Outlook, which said that the annual average growth rate of global electric vehicle (BEV/PHEV) scrap volume was 33%, and the number of abandoned electric vehicles would be close to 4.11 million by 2030 and 42.22 million by 2040. By then, the battery capacity of abandoned electric vehicles would exceed 3000 GWh, and the scale of related recycling market would reach 208.9 billion dollars.
The report shows that by 2030, the number of ordinary electric vehicles and commercial electric vehicles in the waste of electric vehicles will reach 2.34 million and 1.77 million, respectively. By 2040, the waste of the two types of electric vehicles will reach 3694 and 533, respectively. The report predicts that the recycling capacity of waste Battery recycling will reach 183GWh by 2030 and 1789GWh by 2040. At the same time, the annual extraction of lithium, nickel, cobalt and other new energy minerals from waste batteries will reach 6.196 million tons.
