The world's largest pure electric cruise ship successfully made its maiden voyage

On March 29, at Zigui Port, Yichang City, Hubei Province, a 100-meter-long, four-storey cruise ship docked in the port. With an order, the cruise ship slowly left the port. Unlike previous cruise ships, there was no more roaring noise and thick smoke produced by the operation of diesel engines at the scene.

The cruise ship named "Three Gorges of the Yangtze River No. 1" can accommodate 1,300 people. It is designed to have a total length of 100 meters, a total width of 16.3 meters, and a depth of 4 meters. It will mainly operate in two dams and one gorge, Yichang Yangtze River night cruise, and Three Gorges ship lift. and other travel routes. Unlike previous cruise ships powered by diesel engines, this "water hotel" is powered by electricity. The cruise ship is equipped with a marine power battery with a capacity of 7,500 kWh, which is equivalent to the total battery capacity of more than 100 pure electric vehicles.

In order to ensure the energy consumption of cruise ships, State Grid Hubei Electric Power has connected with the design unit in the ship design stage, shared shore power technology, and understood the ship's electricity demand. Innovative exploration of pure electric cruise ship charging technology and services, innovating the original design of medium and low voltage charging solutions, and innovatively putting forward the design idea of "high voltage charging, low voltage power supply", through high voltage and high current, the charging time is shortened by 75%, greatly improving cruise ship charging Efficiency and convenience of shore power access.

In order to make the cruise ship charge faster, better and more conveniently, State Grid Hubei Electric Power built the first set of dedicated high-voltage charging facilities in the Yangtze River Basin in advance at the Three Gorges Tourist Center Wharf. All cruise ship ports along the line are supplied with electricity, and a full-coverage "charging network" is woven to provide reliable charging guarantee for the cruise ship throughout the process. The Yangtze River Shore Power not only provides power access services for ships when they are docked, but also provides "charging" services for a new generation of green ships.

After calculation, the cruise ship can last for 100 kilometers on a single charge, can replace 530 tons of fuel every year, and reduce harmful gas emissions by 1,660 tons. It will play an active role in the ecological protection of the Yangtze River in Yichang, Hubei, and contribute to serving the "double carbon" goal.
