Total Energy of France is collaborating with its subsidiary Saft to deploy a 25MW/75MWh battery energy storage system in Antwerp, Belgium.
The company stated that this battery energy storage project will participate in the auxiliary service market in Belgium.
This battery energy storage project is the largest battery energy storage project deployed by Total Energy in Europe, and its technology and experience will be built on a series of energy storage projects deployed and commissioned by Saft. Saft was acquired by Total Energy in 2016, with a total of 130MWh of energy storage assets, including the 61MWh battery energy storage system deployed by the end of 2021, including the largest battery energy storage system operated in France.
The energy storage project planned to be deployed in Antwerp will be a combination of 40 Intensium Max containerized lithium-ion battery energy storage systems provided by Saft, and will be put into operation by the end of 2024.
The Belgian energy storage market is very active, and this battery energy storage project will utilize auxiliary services and energy trading opportunities.
