As the market's demand for longer-lasting products continues to increase, more precise solutions are required when designing. Using the smart fuel gauge IC to measure the amount of power charged or consumed by the battery will be able to provide a more accurate battery estimate within a wide range of application power levels.


1. Intelligent battery design requirements for testing instruments:


According to customer requirements and specifications, design a smart battery pack that matches the host, integrate the smart fuel gauge with communication protocol (SBS communication protocol) and battery safety protection performance into your solution to achieve the battery pack and host information Sharing, and finally realize a reasonable, efficient and safe battery management program.


Under specific design parameter requirements:


1) Cell shape requirements: use lithium iron phosphate cell combination (26650-5S3P/9.6Ah/16V).


2) Structural design requirements: exquisite appearance, and the overall battery meets the requirements of waterproof and shockproof. In terms of appearance design, it adopts a high-grade aluminum alloy shell + aviation waterproof plug.


3) Circuit design requirements: accurate power management + accurate LED power display. The SBS intelligent battery management system design scheme is adopted to effectively manage the remaining power of the battery at all times. Accurate LED power display, which effectively displays the remaining power of the battery to users in the form of LED lights according to an accurate percentage at all times, in order to achieve the purpose of high efficiency and intuitiveness.


2. Intelligent battery design scheme for testing instruments:

2) Intelligent fuel gauge protection board (PCM): Adopt SBS intelligent battery management system, use advanced power calculation principle to accurately calculate the battery power from time to time, and report the battery power information to the host from time to time through SMBUS, and at the same time to the rechargeable smart Battery packs (generally referred to as lithium batteries) perform protection functions. Due to the chemical characteristics of lithium batteries, protection functions such as overcharge, over-discharge, short circuit, overcurrent, and overtemperature must be provided to avoid burning, explosion, and other hazards.


3) LED power display board: The LED power display light displays the battery capacity calculated by the smart fuel gauge protection board at a 20% power ratio intuitively, so as to be efficient and intuitive for customers to use.


4) Overcurrent protection chip (PTC): Mainly designed for secondary protection function. The PTC recoverable fuse has the dual function of overcurrent protection and automatic recovery. The PTC in battery products can prevent the occurrence of battery high-temperature discharge and unsafe high current.
