Germany retained its position as Europe's most automated economy last year, according to a new survey, DPA reported.
The number of industrial robots in Germany rose to a record 371 for every 10,000 workers, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).
Sweden came second in Europe, with 289 robots per 10,000 workers.
Globally, Germany ranks fourth behind South Korea, Singapore and Japan.
Milton Gehry, president of the International Federation of Robotics, explained that robot density is a "very important measure" for understanding the differences in levels of automation between economies.
The global average density of robots has almost doubled in the past five years, from 66 robots per 10,000 employees in 2015 to 126 now.
The density of robots in China has surged from 49 in 2015 to 246 in 2020 as the number of robots installed has soared, the report added.
Germany accounted for 33 percent of the total robot installations in Europe in 2020, followed by Italy with 13 percent and France with 8 percent, according to an earlier report released by the International Federation of Robotics.
Overall, there were 8% fewer robot installations in Europe in 2020 than in 2019.
