It is understood that CATL is considering investing as much as $5 billion in at least two locations in Mexico to build a battery manufacturing plant to supply power batteries to Tesla and Ford.
Current candidate locations for battery factories include Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and Saltillo, Coahuila, both close to the Mexican border in Texas, and the total size of the investment has yet to be determined.
