Honda Motors and battery manufacturers GS Yuasa will invest about 430 billion yen to cooperate to produce and home batteries for electric vehicles. The two companies will build a new factory in Japan, and the target production capacity will reach at least 20 GWh.
The joint ventures announced by the two companies in January this year will play a core role in battery and materials, and capital investment.
According to the plan, Honda's goal in the field of pure electric vehicle industry is to launch 30 pure electric vehicles in the global market by 2030, with an annual output of more than 2 million vehicles. By 2040, only pure electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles will be sold.
At present, Honda is in the critical stage of electrifying transformation. Although there is no representative technology and models in the field of pure electric vehicles, the global layout of the supply chain will be conducive to large -scale production capacity in the future.
Therefore, Honda fully deploy the battery supply link through joint ventures, foreign supply, and self -research.
The joint venture with GS YUASA is Honda's second joint venture battery plant, and the first is to cooperate with South Korea's LG energy solution.
