India's newly installed PV capacity exceeds 10GW in 2021

Recently, the Indian government said that the country's installed photovoltaic capacity in 2021 will increase by a record 210% to 10GW. The research firm said in its "Indian PV Industry Market Leaders" report that in 2020, green installed capacity reached a level of 3.2GW.


“In 2021, India will add a record 10 GW of new PV capacity, a substantial increase of 210% compared to 3.2 GW in the previous year. The new PV capacity in 2021 is a record high, accounting for 2021 new installations 62% of capacity.”


According to the report, utility-scale projects accounted for 83% of total installations, and the top 10 developers of such projects accounted for 68% of total installations in calendar 2021.


ReNew Power, the largest utility-scale PV developer in India, ranked first in the number of projects executed during the year, followed by Adani Green. In 2021, the new rooftop photovoltaic installed capacity will be 1.7GW. Tata Power Solar tops the list of rooftop PV installers, accounting for 20% of total installations in the sector.


It can be seen that there is a large jump in the ranking of companies providing photovoltaic engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services compared to the previous year. Sterling & Wilson tops this year's EPC vendor rankings, followed by Siemens Gamesa and Tata Power Solar,


Sungrow is the largest supplier of PV inverters to the Indian market in 2021, while Arctech Solar is the largest supplier of PV trackers for the year. PV imports in 2021 will increase significantly by 641% year-on-year. For the second consecutive year, LONGi Solar has become India's Top 1 PV module supplier. The company said installations of open PV installations in 2021 increased by 222% compared to the previous year, making it the second-best year on record.
