OQ said it will build a 100MW solar power plant in Oman's Block 60 concession, which is owned by Oman Oil Corporation Exploration & Production.
In its 2021 Sustainability Report, the energy giant said preparations for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) tender were underway, with the aim of launching the tender in 2022.
The Block 60 Concession Area, also known as the Abu Tubul Block, is located in western central Oman and covers an area of 1,485 square kilometers, approximately 100 kilometers west of Saih Rawl. The gas and oil extracted from the site is transported to the Abu Tubul gas processing plant operated by Oman Oil Exploration and Development Company.
OQ has built a 100MW solar power plant near Nimr in the Block 6 concession, which is owned by Oman's state-owned oil producer Petroleum Development Oman. Block 6 is the largest and most important oil and gas block in Oman, covering an area of nearly 91,000 square kilometers.
The Amin Solar Project is owned by Amin Renewable Energy Corporation (AREC), a joint venture between Japan's Marubeni, Bahwan Renewable Energy, Qatar's Nebras Power QPSC and OQ.
OQ Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Government of Oman and is held through the Oman Investment Authority.
