SK Signet announced that it will establish a new electric vehicle charging pile manufacturing plant in Plano, Texas, and produces more than 10,000 electric vehicles for rapid charging piles per year.
SK Signet is part of the South Korean group SK Group, which also includes battery manufacturer SK ON. So far, SK Signet has delivered more than 20,000 charging piles worldwide, of which 5,000 are delivered in North America. If a new factory with an annual production capacity is 10,000 roots, its total production capacity will usher in a significant improvement.
The SK Signet plans to put the new factory in 2023 and reach full load production in July 2023. Its products will include fast charging piles with power output of up to 350 kW and above.
The new factory covers an area of 136,200 square feet (about 12,653 square meters), and it is expected that by 2026, 183 "high -skills" employment positions will be created. It is important that in addition to the production of simple charging piles, the new factory will also conduct research and development work, produce power modules, and cooperate with automakers to test charging piles. SK Signet did not disclose the specific amount of the investment, but South Korean media reported that the scale was about $ 15 million.
