On July 20, Tesla released its financial report for the second quarter of 2022, achieving 1.1GWh of installed energy storage capacity and 106MW of installed photovoltaic capacity. Among them, the cost of photovoltaic power generation and energy storage business decreased by 1.1% year-on-year, while the related business revenue increased by 8.1% year-on-year.
During the reporting period, Tesla achieved an installed energy storage capacity of 1.1GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 11%. Tesla said this stemmed from the challenges facing semiconductors and that it had a bigger impact on the energy business than the auto business. Tesla says demand for its energy storage products still outstrips supply, and is currently ramping up production at a dedicated Megapack factory to meet growing demand.
However, its photovoltaic business achieved a big breakthrough in the second quarter of this year, exceeding 100 MW for the first time, reaching 106 MW.
