TUV Rheinland has put into operation the most advanced electric vehicle power battery independent testing center in Europe. The laboratory is located in the Avantis Industrial Park on the border between the Netherlands and Germany. It is one of the largest laboratories of its kind, with an investment of more than 24 million euros, designed for car batteries weighing up to 800 kg.
TUV Rheinland has established a new technology competence center for electric vehicle power battery testing center, which will focus on regulatory requirements and manufacturer-specified testing of electric vehicle power batteries. It has been incorporated into TUV Rheinland's global network of technical competence centers. Since its establishment, this new team has been equipped with service capabilities covering the entire value chain of the automotive power battery industry, from technical support for development to comprehensive testing and type testing.
The goal of the new test center is to provide comprehensive testing in accordance with all common safety standards for power batteries on the market. The test center's initial development focus will be on the fast-growing automotive power battery testing market. In the future, testing services will be extended to energy storage applications.
