On January 24, Vistra announced that it plans to further expand its Moss Landing energy storage facility in Moss Landing, California. The company has entered into a 15-year resource assurance agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for the new 350MW/1,400MWh battery system. The expansion is based on the existing 400MW/1,600MWh energy storage capacity. On January 21, 2022, PG&E submitted an application for approval of the contract to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), with a decision expected within 180 days.
