Recently, the Volvo Group said it plans to build a large power battery production plant by 2030 to meet the expected surge in demand for electric vehicles.
In a statement, the Volvo Group said: “Currently, there is already strong demand from our customers and we aim to have at least 35% of all products sold by 2030 be electric. This transition will require extensive use of fossil-free High-performance batteries for energy production, and incorporating battery production into the future industrial footprint is a logical next step for us.”
Volvo also said it had begun work on obtaining approval to build its own production plant in Maristad, without disclosing the cost of the plant.
