What types of intelligent robots can be classified according to their uses?

With the rapid development of science and technology, technological products are increasingly becoming an objective presence in our lives almost all the time, everywhere and nowhere, and intelligent robots are the product of the organic combination of mechanical technology, electronics and information technology.

In terms of uses, intelligent robots have many similarities with ordinary robots in terms of uses, but their intelligence makes them capable of doing more complex work and accomplishing more advanced tasks. Intelligent robots can be divided into the following categories according to their uses.

1、Industrial intelligent robots

Industrial intelligent machines are usually subdivided into welding robots, assembly robots, painting robots, palletizing robots, handling robots, and many other types based on specific applications. As industrial robots with intelligence, they surpass traditional robots in many aspects.

Welding robots, including spot welding (resistance welding) and arc welding robots, are used to automate welding operations. Assembly robots, which are more often used for the assembly of electronic components and appliances.

Paint spraying robots, which replace human beings for paint spraying operations. Palletizing, loading and unloading, and handling robots, on the other hand, function to transport items from one place to another according to certain speed and accuracy requirements.

The application of robots in industrial production makes it easy to quickly change the content or mode of operation to meet changes in production requirements. For example, changing the trajectory of a weld seam, changing the location of a paint job, changing an assembly part or location, etc. As the demand for flexibility in industrial production lines grows, so does the demand for various robots.

2、Agricultural intelligent robots

With the progress of robotics, industrial robots that work with stereotypes and inorganic objects are developing into higher-level agricultural robots that target complex work objects such as animals and plants, and the application of agricultural robots or robotized agricultural machinery is gradually expanding.

The application of agricultural robots can not only greatly reduce or replace people's production labor and solve the problem of labor shortage, but also increase labor productivity, improve the production environment of agriculture, prevent pesticides and fertilizers from harming human bodies, and improve the quality of work. However, because agricultural robots face complex environments and work objects that are unstructured, uncertain, and unpredictable, their research and development is more difficult than that of industrial robots.

Research and development of agricultural robots is currently focused on tillage, fertilization, spraying, vegetable grafting, seedling plant transplanting, harvesting, irrigation, breeding, and various auxiliary operations. Japan is the country where robots are most widely used, and thousands of robots have been used in agriculture.

3、Explore intelligent robots

In addition to being widely used in industry and agriculture, robots are increasingly being used for extreme exploration, i.e., performing tasks in environments that are harsh or unsuitable for human work. For example, underwater (ocean), space and in the radioactive (toxic or high temperature and other environments to operate. Human beings have a long history of exploring the deep sea with the help of submersible equipment.

However, since it is very dangerous and expensive, underwater robots have become the best tool to replace humans in this dangerous environment. Space robots are robots engaged in various operations inside and outside the atmosphere, including flying robots that fly and make observations in the inner space and can complete a variety of operations, planet exploration robots that go to other planets in outer space to conduct exploration operations and robots used in various spacecraft.

4、Service-oriented intelligent robots

Robotics has not only been widely used in industrial and agricultural production and scientific exploration, but also gradually penetrated into people's daily life, and service robots are a general term for this type of robots. Although service robots started late, they have a wide range of application prospects, and are now mainly used in cleaning, nursing, duty, rescue, entertainment, and maintenance of equipment instead of people.

A preliminary definition of service robot given by the International Federation of Robotics is a robot that operates in an autonomous or semi-autonomous manner and can provide services for human life and rehabilitation, or a class of robots that can perform maintenance on equipment operation.

As intelligent robotics continues to expand into new fields, the range of disciplines will become broader, and intelligent robots will synthesize knowledge from different disciplines, allowing people to integrate various disciplines in the process of learning and research.
