Caja Robotics, which provides automated services for order execution, recently announced that Dr. Christian E. Baur, former CEO of Swisslog, has joined the company as a senior consultant. Following the successful promotion of Caja's warehouse robots in the United States, Baur will support the establishment of a strong customer and partner network to consolidate the company's position in Europe in response to the increasing automation needs of the European Union.
Caja Robotics was established in 2014 to provide robots for the execution of goods-to-person orders. The Binyamina-based company said its system aims to improve the efficiency of warehouse pickup orders, increase storage capacity, and optimize employees’ workplaces. Caja added that its system is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of specific areas such as footwear, fashion, clothing or online groceries.
Baur said: "There are only a few mature companies that provide innovative robot-driven goods-to-person solutions, but no company like Caja is really focused on creating top-notch, cloud-based order execution optimization software-achieving high execution rates. In December 2020, Caja raised US$12 million in Series B financing. Since then, the company has deployed many robots worldwide, including for Bergen Logistics, which manages the online fulfillment of dozens of brands in New York. Caja also worked with AHS partners to deploy 100 robots at a major distribution facility in Kentucky.
According to Caja Robotics, Baur is an expert in software and robotics and an entrepreneur who focuses on future automation and creating customer value. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich and a doctorate degree from the Technical University of Karlsruhe. With his experience in KUKA, Swisslog, and various management consulting, Baur understands project-based global business, operational excellence, and mergers and acquisitions. He will apply this innovative thinking and leadership to digital logistics solutions, the company added.
