Honeywell's new 20MW energy storage project helps customers optimize energy costs

Honeywell announced that it will supply an energy storage system (ESS) for a solar park in Jicarilla Apache Nation in northern New Mexico. The storage capacity will be 20MW and will form a battery-powered platform that integrates asset monitoring, DER management, supervisory control and analytics.

The ESS system will be integrated with the Experion Energy Control System, enabling Hecate Energy, the developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects and storage solutions, to accurately predict their energy costs, optimize their energy costs, and support users with reliable, Cost-effective clean energy.

Honeywell makes technology to address energy challenges, and according to the company, asset owners will be able to use energy storage in more than one scenario, including peak shaving, backup and demand response.

Also included in the project is a 50MW solar power plant, expected to be completed in the fall of 2022, capable of providing enough power to power an average of 16,000 New Mexico homes for a year. Projects are further expected to help meet the state's decarbonization goals.
