Irena said that 191GW solar energy was added worldwide in 2022

According to the international renewable energy agency (Irena), the global renewable energy installed capacity increased by 295 GW last year, and the world's cumulative 3372 GW was reached.

Irena said that developers installed a total of 295 GW renewable energy in 2022, which increased the cumulative installed capacity of the world by 9.6%to 3372 GW. According to Irena, the year of record growth should be mainly due to the new photovoltaic system.

The organization said that the 191 GW solar energy was installed last year, and the growth was still mainly concentrated in a few countries and regions such as Asia, the United States and Europe. Asia accounted for 60 % of the new total, and 1.63 TW has been installed with renewable energy.

China accounted for nearly half of the global new renewable energy capacity in 2022, with 141 GW. According to Irena data, the newly increased capacity of North America and Europe in 2022 was 57.3 GW and 29.1 GW, respectively. Africa continued to grow steadily to 2.7 GW, slightly higher than the previous year.

Irena said that hydropower still accounts for the maximum share of renewable energy installation capacity, reaching 1255 GW, but only 21 GW last year. Solar energy is catching up, and last year's installation capacity broke through the Taiwa -level milestone.
