NLC India, an Indian renewable energy developer, is negotiating with the governments of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to deploy a 20MWh battery energy storage system. At present, 95% of the electricity in these islands comes from Diesel generator, and the remaining 5% comes from hydropower.
The South Andaman Islands currently operates a 20MW solar power generation plant and an 8MWh energy storage system. The local government hopes to ensure grid stability by deploying more battery energy storage systems, and requires a capital expenditure of 2.5 billion rupees to deploy a 20MWh battery energy storage system.
NLC India has set itself a huge target for renewable Energy development, and plans to invest 24 billion rupees to develop 6GW of renewable energy by 2030.
NLC India also plans to develop a 300MW solar power generation facility in the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat.
