The government of the Autonomous Region of Valencia, Generalitat Valenciana (GVA), has proposed to allocate funds to local company Silicon Valen SL to realize its plans to build a solar PV module factory in Spain.
It is reported that Silicon Valen SL plans to use the funds to purchase machinery and equipment to start the construction of the first phase of the photovoltaic factory, raw materials and batteries will be purchased from European companies. In the future, the company plans to launch 3 production plants to complete the final assembly process from silicon material to cells and modules.
Silicon Valen SL aims to have Phase 1 online in 2023 and commercial supply from October 2023.
This project is part of the implementation of Valencia's Industrial Strategic Plan, which aims to break away from Europe's strong dependence on China's solar supply chain in order to ensure European energy independence and decarbonization of the economy.
