Recently, the UK announced the results of the fourth round of CFD bidding, with a total of 5 fixed offshore wind power projects shortlisted.
The five projects are:
Inch Cape Phase I (1080MW)
Moray West (294MW of which)
Hornsea Three (2852MW)
Norfolk Boras Phase I (1396MW)
East Anglia Three (1372MW)
With a total capacity of 7GW, the average winning bid was £37.35/MWh, a 70% drop from the winning bids for the first round of CFD tenders in 2015 (£111.89/MWh and £114.39/MWh).
Hornsea Three of Woxu Energy will enter the implementation stage after winning the bid, and its capacity of 2852MW has become the largest offshore wind farm in the world that has been built or is under construction.
At the same time, the winner of this round of CFDs is the 32MW TwinHub floating demonstration project developed by TwinHub, a subsidiary of Hexicon, in Scotland. The winning bid price is £87.3/MWh.
The British government has prepared an annual subsidy of 295 million pounds for the fourth round of CFD bidding, of which fixed offshore wind power will receive 210 million pounds, floating offshore wind power will receive 24 million pounds as a separate category, and others include tidal energy projects. 10 million pounds GBP 10 million for mature onshore wind and photovoltaics.
