Spain's Acciona plans to invest 12 billion reais in Brazil to acquire photovoltaic + wind energy projects by 2025

Spain's Acciona Group, which currently owns two wind farms in Brazil's Bahia state from developer Casa dos Ventos, is continuing to look for more market opportunities to significantly expand its project pool.

Spain's Acciona Group plans to invest 12 billion reais in acquisitions and wind power projects in Brazil by 2025 to achieve an installed capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW). As of now, Acron Energy owns two wind farms in the state of Bahia, purchased from Casa dos Ventos last year, with a combined capacity of 850 megawatts (MW).

Acciona will focus on acquiring projects in RTB stage + projects already invested in COD.

In addition, Acciona will simultaneously develop new projects. It is looking into building a photovoltaic plant near the wind farm it already owns, expanding its installed capacity by 200 megawatts (MW).

In disclosing the company's results for the second quarter, Acciona's parent company in Spain said that the acquisition of project assets in the Brazilian state of Bahia helped to better understand the dynamics of the Brazilian market. The company also said that the strong development of the renewable energy business in Brazil contributed to the growth of the group's revenue.

In Brazil, Acciona is also involved in the infrastructure sector, as well as in highway concessions. In addition, Axon Energy is currently responsible for the construction of Line 6 of the Sao Paulo Metro in Brazil.
