The development rate of PV in Germany is amazing, and the average growth rate of PV nationwide in 2022 is about 28%.

Photovoltaic systems are experiencing unprecedented prosperity in Germany. The installation speed varies in different regions. The development map of solar energy technology can reflect the strong growth of different regions, and can also clearly reveal the differences between North and South.

2022 is a year when people suddenly become sensitive and concerned about energy. Overlooking Germany, the growth of photovoltaic power generation in the northern region is twice that in the southern region: the photovoltaic system in Lower Saxony, Meiqian, Shiho and other urban states has increased by about 20%, while the growth of photovoltaic power generation in Bavaria is only 10%, and that in Bavaria is only 11%. However, the absolute number of solar roofs in the southern federal states is far higher than that in the north. Bavaria and Bavaria have 250000 solar roofs. North Wales is the most powerful with 330000 solar roofs.

The south and west of Germany have an absolute base advantage in terms of solar energy status. If the growth rates of Shiho and Bavaria are 20% and 11% respectively, after 20 years, the absolute number of photovoltaic devices in the Northern Federal States is still about 1 million less than that in the Southwest.

Selfmade Energy, a solar system comparison portal, evaluated the photovoltaic growth of German cities in 2050 (calculated by photovoltaic systems with output power exceeding 1 kWp). Eight East German cities entered the top ten.

Creuzburg in Thuringen has become the solar capital of Germany with a growth rate of 106%. Krempe of Iowa followed closely with a growth rate of 57%. Then Richtenberg in Meiqian, up 56%.

Among the metropolises with a population of more than 500000, Cologne will have the strongest growth in solar power generation in 2022, reaching 29%. Dusseldorf and Dresden followed with 25% and 24% respectively.

The highest density of photovoltaic system is Dortmund. There are nearly 10 photovoltaic devices in every 1000 people. Nuremberg has about eight, and Stuttgart ranks third with seven. It is worth noting that Cologne, Dusseldorf and Dresden have seen strong growth in the past five years, with the per capita photovoltaic quantity more than doubled.

According to the data of the German Solar Energy Industry Association (BSW), the average growth rate of PV nationwide in 2022 is about 28%. Three quarters of private homeowners who can install solar roofs are considering solar systems, and it is likely to maintain this growth trend in the future. At the end of December last year, the Solar Industry Association commissioned a survey of 1022 German homeowners, which showed that one in five homeowners had planned to install solar roofs in the next year. Among those who want to buy photovoltaic systems, 80% plan to buy solar energy storage systems.

In addition, there are also federal states that force the installation of solar roofs. Hamburg introduced a mandatory obligation to install solar roofs in 2020. It has been a year since Bavaria and North Wales forced the installation of photovoltaic systems on new non-residential buildings. Since May 2022, photovoltaic or photothermal systems are also mandatory for new residential buildings in Bavaria. This also applies to the roof renovation project started this year.

The states of Stoho, Berlin, Lefah and Lower Saxony have also followed suit and stipulated to install photovoltaic systems on new non-residential buildings. Rosengart, a solar energy expert, said that these regulations might be expanded again in 2023.
