Volvo Announces World's First Zero Emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell Articulated Transporter Prototype

In 1966, the world's first articulated truck, the Gravel Charlie, hit the ground running at Volvo CE in Sweden. According to Volvo's official news, on July 15, the world's first zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell articulated transporter prototype, the Volvo HX04, came out at the same factory.

Volvo said the fuel cell onboard the HX04 powers the truck by combining hydrogen with oxygen to create a chemical reaction and generate electricity. During truck driving, water vapor is the only emission product.

The data shows that the current Volvo HX04 model can be filled with 12 kilograms of hydrogen in about 7.5 minutes and can run continuously for about four hours.
